Firestorm was a presenting sponsor at this years Emerald Coast AdFed Addy Awards Gala, and we also entered some of our work into the competition.

We took home 8 awards from this years competition - not too bad for our first year! Some of the entries that won include, Easy Street Pet Friendly Vacation Rentals website, The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast’s website and TV commercial production, our very own website FirestormCS.com and many others.

We were extremely honored to be recognized for the hard work and creativity that we provided our clients last year - Awards are nice, but we’re more honored to have been able to work for such amazing clients!

Thanks for a great 2008; and thanks to Ad Fed and all our great co-horts in advertising for making it fun!

Marlin Miller - The Katrina Sculpture Project

Marlin Miller is a Fort Walton Beach, FL native and amazing wood sculptor. He started the “Katrina Sculpture Project” in 2007, spending over a year in storm torn areas, donating time and resources to carve large oaks that were killed by Hurricane Katrina. So far he has completed over 30 sculptures along Hwy 90 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with some of his creations towering more than 3 stories into the sky. The Katrina Sculpture Project has been featured on television stations, radio programs, magazines and newspapers around the country.

Firestorm Creative Studios has had the honor to partner with Marlin Miller on the Internet, producing MarlinMillerGallery.com. The site showcases photos of his most prominent work. We’re proud to work with Marlin Miller and we’re looking forward to the hard cover book “Katrina Sculpture Project” coming in July, 2009.

For those who watched Super Bowl XLIII, it was a pretty interesting scene. The veteran Steelers were favored from the get go, while the underdog Cardinals were in their Post Season winning streak. The game boiled down to some funky calls by the refs and some bad plays by the guys on both sides. Take out the safety, Steelers had it in the bag. Take out some personal fouls, the Cardinals were going to take it. In the end, both teams played well, but could have played better - and the refs could have called better for sure. But it was still a pretty exciting, record breaking Super Bowl. Congrats to the Steelers! Read the rest of this entry »

Ah yes - If i had a nickel…I’ll take mysteries of the universe for $2,000 Alex! So what makes a website a good website? Conversely, what makes a website bad? What’s the difference if my nephew Stewy builds my website or a professional agency? The answer is simple: there isn’t just one answer. Since design is mostly subjective and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we can’t solely rely on visual appeal as our standard. So what then? Well written copy? Clear navigation? A Fun Loving Mascot?

Fifteen years ago, the business landscape was a lot different, and so was your sales process. New prospects found you in the yellow pages and called to set up an appointment. You and your team went - clean shaven, suit and tie, fresh cologne. Why all the trouble? First impressions! Prospects size you and your business up in moments. Overcoming a negative first impression is difficult and sometimes impossible. Making a great first impression, however, can be priceless.

Wouldn’t it be nice to sit at the downtown park and check your email, shop online and maybe comment on your friend’s Facebook page? How about doing that completely wireless and at broadband speeds… real broadband speeds? That’s not too far off if Sprint can help it. Earlier today, Sprint “cut the cord” to broadband in Baltimore, enabling users to access broadband download speeds in excess of 2 megabits per second with Sprint powering the US debut of the latest microwave service and network technology, Xohm and WiMax.
