Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS) begain an initiative to try and attract WestJet airlines to fly into their terminal and they wanted a microsite to gather support.
We had the pleasure of meeting some of the staff of the Northwest Florida Regional Airport (VPS) through another one of our great clients and they presented us with a challenge: they needed a website to attract public support and ultimately attract and convince WestJest Airlines to fly into VPS; and they needed it fast.
The Challenge
Design a microsite that is attractive and functional that would provide information about the initiative and gather public support through a short survey. They also wanted to store the responses in a database, track site activity and be able to retrieve all the data quickly. Oh…and they needed it done in one day!
The Solution
We here at firestorm are never afraid of a challenge. We took their ideas and instructions and ran with them (literally). We pulled the design together with CSS/XHTML and created a dynamically validated and object oriented PHP survey form that submits to a MYSQL database. It also sends notification and confirmation emails to the user and to the Airport staff. We implemented Google analytics to track the activity and usage on the site. The staff can retrieve all the info in the database at any time through a dynamically created Microsoft Excel file from the site. It was a long night, but we pulled it off and they couldn’t be happier.
Great job. The site turned out great and I have heard many favorable comments about it. -VPS Business Development Manager
